Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies
In harmony with the internationalization of Chinese Studies and government policy of promoting “Chinese Culture with Taiwan Characteristics”, the National Central Library (NCL) worked out a plan in 2012 to establish “Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies (TRCCS)” overseas based on its existing foundation of international exchange of publications.
With the aim of actively and effectively promoting the quality of Taiwan and Chinese Studies academic publications, the NCL donated around 500-1000 volumes of locally published books and audio-visual materials to the overseas “TRCCS” in the first year. Each year, the NCL will continue to supplement the TRCCS in order to enrich the collections of cooperating institutes and promote outstanding academic publications produced in Taiwan. Without copyright concerns, the NCL sets an IP mode to offer the overseas “TRCCS” to search and use the NCL and Center for Chinese Studies digital resources. Also, in order to strengthen the visibility of Taiwan Chinese Studies in the world, the NCL organizes Chinese Studies related academic or professional activities such as seminars, workshops, lectures, etc., and provides the opportunity for participants from the overseas “TRCCS” to attend. On the other hand, cooperating institutes need to assign responsible personnel in charge of related affairs such as arranging a specific section for the showcasing of materials of “Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies,” showing “TRCCS” information and URL links on their official websites, exchanging Chinese Studies related publications, and assist the NCL in Sinology research related academic activities. Each year, they should also organize one activity to promote Chinese Studies resources in Taiwan.
