Focus on Taiwan and Pacific Islands as strategic links in the chain that links like-minded nations in Asia with the United States of America, in terms of support of democratic governance, respect for rule of law, economic dependency and concern for environment. Research will study challenges to the strength of these ties and means to reinforce such connections. Work will include input from government, civil society, academia, media and business communities in the region. Output will include findings on status of the ties today and recommendations for the future of these relationships.
