The contents of this database have been compiled from those of the hard-copy volumes Bibliography of Research on Han Philosophers, 1912-1996 and Bibliography of Research on Han Philosophers, 1997-2001, published in 1998 and 2003, respectively. The bibliographical volumes were edited by Professor Li-Kuei Chen (Department of Chinese, National Taiwan Normal University) on behalf of the Center for Chinese Studies. Indexing for the database was done by Professor Chen, along with Mr. Chien-Chun Chang and Mr. Weibo Liu, also on behalf of the Center for Chinese Studies. The materials collected here encompass scholarly research from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Mainland China; publications in Japanese available in Taiwan; as well as the monographs, journal articles, newspaper articles, anthologies, dissertations, conference papers, and NSF-funded research papers collected by Harvard-Yenching Library, Yale University Library, and the UC Berkeley East Asian Library. The collection covers the years 1912 to 2001 and totals over 11,000 entries.
