On Wednesday afternoon, May 8th, 2024, the National Central Library (NCL) hosted the third annual ‘Academic Workshop on Utilizing National Central Library Resources for Foreign Fellowship Scholars’. The primary function was to provide ample resources for scholars who received either ‘CCS (Center for Chinese Studies) Research Grant for Foreign Scholars in Chinese Studies’ or the ‘MOFA Taiwan Fellowship’.
This academic workshop was held at the National Archives Administration National Development Council and was received by Researcher Lee, Ya-Chu. The workshop introduced the ‘Archives Access Service’, ‘Navigating Electronic Agencies’ Records’, and the ‘Archives Time-travel Capsules’ among many other databases.
The National Development Council’s Exhibition Hall held two exhibits. A long term exhibit of ‘Treasured Cases’ and the special exhibit of ‘An Island of Miracles’. The long term exhibit presented many historical events such as how our National Compulsory Education had gone from six years to twelve. The special exhibit presented major historical constructs. One being how construction personnel overcame the difficulty of building a tunnel on the ocean floor while expanding the port in Kaohsiung.
This activity had thirty-one scholars from eleven countries that took part in it where each scholar expressed their familiarity with each database.
