|
In order to help foreign scholars gain a deeper understanding of regional cultures and customs here in Taiwan, on May 24th of 2019 the Center for Chinese Studies invited the nearly 50 recipients of the “Research Grant for Foreign Scholars in Chinese studies,” offered by the Center, and of the “MOFA Taiwan Scholarship” to participate in “a trip to experience the local cultures of Yilan.” Klement Gu, direct general of the Department of Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Keng Li-chun, vice director of the Center, as well as others designed and organized activities that ranged from experiencing the lifestyles of farming communities in Yilan to visiting the Lanyang Museum, all of which centered on a better understanding of the natural conditions and social customs found in the greater Yilan area. |
