The seventh course of Library Curriculum for International Scholars for CCS

On the morning of Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, scholars from both the ‘MOFA Taiwan Fellowship’ and the ‘Research Grant for Foreign Scholars in Chinese studies’ attended the seventh course of our library curriculum. This course is aimed to better assist our foreign scholars in fully utilizing our library’s resources.

Held in the 301 conference room within the Art and Culture Center, the course lecturer is the Deputy Director Wende Huang from the Center for Chinese Studies who introduced Chinese Studies-related resources. The course mainly introduced the origin of the National Central Library and databases exclusive to said venue. These include the ‘Rare Books and Special Collection’, ‘Taiwan Memory’, ‘Taiwan eBook’, and much more. Our lecturer introduced in detail about the three major systems’ collections, the backstory of how they were created, and how to navigate the online database. There were also special introductions of other collections on Chinese studies such as from the Academia Sinica, National Taiwan University, and the Academia Historica. Many of our foreign scholars expressed their interest and engaged in active discourse with our deputy director.

This course had a total of eleven participants from six countries expressed their satisfaction in understanding more about our library’s resources and the opportunity to socialize with each other.
