The National Central Library (NCL), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and Ming Chuan University held an event on November 27th on the 5th floor of the hall in the MOFA building. The event was held in celebration for the Taiwan Alumni Association’s (TAA) Facebook page’s first anniversary. Scholars from the Taiwan Fellowship and students from the Taiwan Scholarship program also attended the event. With the Minister of MOFA being the host of the event, the Director General of NCL had also attended. Representing the Taiwan Fellowship this year, Scholar Swati Arun (Center for Contemporary China Studies Advisor of India’s Ministry of External Affairs) was invited to express a few words.
MOFA had established the Taiwan Fellowship Program in the year 2010. Till this year, there have been more than 1400 scholars from 93 different countries who have received this grant. The fellowship aims to encourage global experts with interests in Taiwan, Cross-Strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region, and Chinese literature research to visit Taiwan for their research.
The event included a traditional lottery with many surprises for the attendees, and specialized gifts provided by both NCL and MOFA; marking a happy ending to this year’s events.
The TAA encourages the event’s attendees to join its Facebook page and use it as a platform to maintain their relationship with Taiwan.
